I was raised to believe that grades is everything. In primary school, I got a scolding for getting Bs in my subjects.
Then when I wanted to enter the workforce, it seemed that the buzzword is skills. But by and by, I learned that skills is abundant in the global market, and that they sometimes cost less than you.
I realised much later that what is more valued than grades or skill is the ability to solve problems, and the ability to tell people that you can solve problems.
The bigger the problem you solve, the higher your value. The more you get recognised that you are a problem solver, the faster you get ahead. It is the very basis of job finding, career progression and business growth.
I wish I had learned this since I was young. But it’s okay. I hope you can take up the mantle on this, Legacy.
